In 2005 the Long Island Latino International Film Festival – Long Island,
New York
LILIFF was created to commemorate the independent film spirit and to showcase the finest in Latino filmmaking. We created this festival to fill that need and serve as a cinematic bridge between the filmmakers and the Long Island movie-going audience. Long Island is home to over 350,000 Hispanics and growing so we aim to provide the best independent films in Latino cinema today.
LILIFF is a competitive event offering opportunities to filmmakers of all levels including student film and video makers. Our festival is open to both the United States and the international film community and encourage participation from different cultures and artist of all walks of life. We organize this yearly event to celebrate their craft and collaborative efforts.
We screen films ranging from narrative features and short films to animation, experimental and documentary. We connect our audiences with the filmmakers in a Q & A session following the screenings. They have the opportunity to engage in an intimate discussion with the filmmakers, producers and actors regarding the trials and tribulations of making an independent film.
LILIFF has been committed to bringing compelling films with powerful storytelling each year. In 2005, we opened our first festival with a screening of the independent film “Manito” with the understanding that there is a lack of opportunities for Latino filmmakers to theatrically screen their films.
Hosted by Mezcla Media Market, Inc., last year we held our 3rd annual festival, September 28th through the 30th, at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Westhampton Beach, Long Island, New York and it was presented by Cablevision. Cablevision has been a special partner of the festival since 2006.
Since its inception in 2005, the LILIFF has helped filmmakers attend and enjoy the festival. Filmmakers receive all-access passes to screenings, special events, after parties and awards.
We have created many membership and sponsorship opportunities so you can be part of this and many other events. By teaming with us, you will not only receive significant recognition of your leadership in the community, but also become part of our Latino family making a difference.
